Brilliant Mr Brunel!
Location: ss Great Britain, Great Western Dockyard, BristolA visit to the ss Great Britain is a voyage of discovery for children and adults of all ages. Transport your students back in time to Victorian Britain, and the launch of Brunel's ss Great Britain. Experience what life was like for people travelling on the world's biggest steam ship in the nineteenth century, from first class passengers to those travelling in cramped and dirty steerage.
The new Dockyard Museum helps to explain the fascinating stories behind the ship. Huge interactive exhibits challenge your pupils to steer the ship on a westerly course and operate machinery to lift the giant propeller. Look out for Sinbad the ship's cat and his fascinating fact panels for children. The new Medlock Education Centre located alongside the ship, with direct access into the Dockyard Museum, provides purpose built facilities for workshops.
