Imagine turning the radio on 200 years ago, what would you have heard?
B200fm answered that question. It used radio to bring the Victorian era to life. With speech, music, features and drama, the project combined new technology with historical experience.
Listen to the archived broadcasts on line on the B200fm website.

This unit is based on the QCA/DfES history scheme of work unit 4 'Why do we remember Florence Nightingale?' and looks at the importance of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Children look at the significance of Brunel in the local and national contexts and visit many of the sites associated with Brunel to gain an understanding of their locality and of the significance of Brunel.
ss Great Britain produced an Activity Sheet to accompany the exhibition 'The Nine Lives of I K Brunel' which ran from April to October 2006. Download the sheet below. Further activity sheets are available on the ss Great Britain website. The site also includes Question of the Week in which children can submit on-line questions to Brunel about his work.
